David Lieberman/Artists’ Representatives is a performing arts management agency located in Newport Beach, California. DLAR was founded in 1985 with the goal of supporting artistic expression in the creation of live performance experiences.[1] DLAR began with a single artist and over the years has evolved to the point where it now curates a roster of 8-10 internationally known artists touring worldwide. In addition to its tour management efforts, David Lieberman/Artists’ Representatives focuses on the development and production of its Artists’ works, as well as creating administrative structures that strengthen each organization's ability to realize their artistic vision.[1]

History

David Lieberman/Artists’ Representatives was founded by David Lieberman in Los Angeles, California in 1985. In 2002 DLAR moved to and currently has offices in Newport Beach, California.

Current roster

"Founded in 1981 by a group of renegade theatre artists with a mission to make theater more accessible to a broad and diverse audience, The Actors' Gang has continued to create daring reinterpretations of the classics in its commedia dell'arte style while developing new plays that address the world today through a prism of satire, popular culture and raucous stagecraft".[2]

"You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive. It is not for unsteady souls." [3]

"By creating large-scale structures to examine the funny and frightening ways individuals act with their environment, Diavolo investigates the latent absurdities of contemporary human life and re-contextualizes them through the body, exploring the influences of environment, possessions and relationships. Our aim is to capture and comment upon the ironic and frequently humorous patterns, as well as the darker consequences, of human behavior."[4]

The Joe Goode Performance Group promotes understanding, compassion and tolerance among people through the innovative use of dance and theater, as interpreted by the artistic vision and work of Joe Goode [5] who explains, "I want to pierce the veil of toughness that we all have in our lives and to uncover the vulnerable center, the confused, flailing human part of us that we conceal and avoid." [6]

"The mission of Kronos is to continually re-imagine the string quartet experience. Kronos has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the string quartet." [7]

Winner of "Best Play" from the American Readers Theater Association.[8] "The show traces the origins and evolution of three derogatory terms (‘nigger,’ ‘wetback,’ ‘chink’) that shaped our lives and took the place of a genuine understanding of our distinct cultures." [9] (Artist website) "A melting pot of theater, hip-hop, stand-up comedy, slam poetry and memoir from three electric performers...." [9] Black Book magazine

The aim of Spectrum Dance Theater is "to move the arts, in particular dance, from the marginal, ancillary, and periphery of the activities of communities and into their center. To have the dance and the arts be an integral partner in all civic dialogues concerning what makes and contributes to healthy communities." [9]

Tectonic Theater Project is an award-winning company whose plays (The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, The Laramie Project) have been performed around the world. The company is dedicated to developing innovative works that explore theatrical language and form, fostering an artistic dialogue with out audiences on the social, political and human issues that affect us all."[10]

Company mission
